What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1)
What's Left of Me
by Kat Zhang
Publication: September 18th 2012 by Harper

Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t…

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable–hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet…for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.

And other pretty cover. I'm a sucker for pretty covers, that's for sure.  This'll be another interesting one, I think.

The Lost Girl
The Lost Girl
by Sangu Mandanna
Publication: August 28th 2012 by Balzer + Bray

Eva’s life is not her own. She is a creation, an abomination—an echo. Made by the Weavers as a copy of someone else, she is expected to replace a girl named Amarra, her “other”, if she ever died. Eva studies what Amarra does, what she eats, what it’s like to kiss her boyfriend, Ray. So when Amarra is killed in a car crash, Eva should be ready.

But fifteen years of studying never prepared her for this.

Now she must abandon everything she’s ever known—the guardians who raised her, the boy she’s forbidden to love—to move to India and convince the world that Amarra is still alive.

Yet another pretty cover. And the idea is so interesting.

Taken (Taken, #1)
Taken
by Erin Bowman
Publication: April 16th 2013 by HarperTeen

There are no men in Claysoot. There are boys—but every one of them vanishes at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. The ground shakes, the wind howls, a blinding light descends...and he’s gone.

They call it the Heist.

Gray Weathersby’s eighteenth birthday is mere months away, and he’s prepared to meet his fate–until he finds a strange note from his mother and starts to question everything he’s been raised to accept: the Council leaders and their obvious secrets. The Heist itself. And what lies beyond the Wall that surrounds Claysoot–a structure that no one can cross and survive.

Climbing the Wall is suicide, but what comes after the Heist could be worse. Should he sit back and wait to be taken–or risk everything on the hope of the other side?

Another pretty cover from HarperTeen. (That's why, if I ever get an agent, ever am published, I'd watch HarperTeen. Now back to the point...)  The whole no-men thing is interesting. And then what happens afterwards.  But I'll be honest: a major reason why I want this is because of the cover.  It is gorgeous.

Stormdancer (The Lotus War, #1)
Stormdancer
by Jay Kristoff
Publication: September 18th 2012 by Thomas Dunne Books

A DYING LAND
The Shima Imperium verges on the brink of environmental collapse; an island nation once rich in tradition and myth, now decimated by clockwork industrialization and the machine-worshipers of the Lotus Guild. The skies are red as blood, the land is choked with toxic pollution, and the great spirit animals that once roamed its wilds have departed forever.

AN IMPOSSIBLE QUEST
The hunters of Shima's imperial court are charged by their Shōgun to capture a thunder tiger – a legendary creature, half-eagle, half-tiger. But any fool knows the beasts have been extinct for more than a century, and the price of failing the Shōgun is death.

A HIDDEN GIFT
Yukiko is a child of the Fox clan, possessed of a talent that if discovered, would see her executed by the Lotus Guild. Accompanying her father on the Shōgun’s hunt, she finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in Shima’s last wilderness, with only a furious, crippled thunder tiger for company. Even though she can hear his thoughts, even though she saved his life, all she knows for certain is he’d rather see her dead than help her.

But together, the pair will form an indomitable friendship, and rise to challenge the might of an empire.

This. Is. Amazing.  Well, sounds amazing.  I love anything that is oriental, and this book...  I just can't explain how much I want this.  I will be searching for this book as soon as I can.

Cursed
Cursed
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publication: September 18th 2012 by Spencer Hill Press

Dying sucks--and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

It's a pretty cover, don't you think? And then the whole idea is pretty awesome.  Can't wait for this one to come out, even though I'll be swamped with AP homework by this time.

Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week, I'm trying to wait for SWEET EVIL.  I read the first chapter of this book way back in 2010, when inkpop was still getting out there, and I was still rather new to the judging-a-book-by-its-content.  All I remember is that I absolutely enjoyed the first chapter.  I can't wait to read the whole thing.  Good thing it's coming out soon!  I just don't know if my mom's willing to buy it, considering the stacks of books in my room... I just might have to use some of my own money to get a book.

Sweet Evil

Cover of The Katerina Trilogy, Vol. I: The Gathering StormI'm interested in THE GATHERING STORM for more than one reason. A major reason is the fact that I'm writing something set in Russia, which is where this takes places. Another would be the history, because I love history.

And because I can't access Goodreads right now, the link will be from Random Buzzers.

Waiting on Wednesday (3)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at the Breaking the Spine.

After cleaning part of my room today, I found a $26 giftcard for Amazon. So I'm getting two books. One of them is the following, which I've wanted for quite a while.

Shatter Me
Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

I can't wait to get it!

Partials
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill here.
Pitch from goodreads.

The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.
Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic in training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws threaten to launch what’s left of humanity into civil war, and she’s not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will discover that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.
Dan Wells, acclaimed author of I Am Not a Serial Killer, takes readers on a pulse-pounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question—one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.

Pretty awesome, huh? It comes out on February 28th, 2012. Hopefully I a) when the ARC giveaway currently being hosted or b) get a whole lot of money for Christmas and from recycling. Can't wait to check it out.

Her only place of release is the drug-filled underground club scene, where people go to shake off the oppressive rules of the world they live in. There, she meets a beautiful and mysterious boy who speaks a language she’s never heard, and her secret is almost exposed.
